Job Title

Staff DFT Solutions Engineer – Chip Methodology & Automation (CMA)

Role Summary

Join Arm's Chip Methodology & Automation (CMA) team to define, develop, and deploy DFT methodologies, flows, and automation for Arm-based SoCs. The role drives integration of DFT across RTL-to-GDS implementation and silicon enablement workflows and leads adoption of scalable, reusable solutions.

Experience Level

Senior / Lead level (staff-level role). The posting requests extensive industry experience with complex SoCs; no specific years-of-experience was listed.

Responsibilities

Primary ownership and delivery responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain DFT methodologies, flows, automation, and reference solutions for Arm-based SoCs.
  • Integrate and align DFT flows within end-to-end RTL-to-GDS implementation and silicon enablement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with architecture, implementation, CAD, product engineering, customers, and ecosystem partners to enable deployments.
  • Evaluate and enable new capabilities with EDA vendors and technology partners.
  • Lead technical reviews, resolve complex integration challenges, and drive methodology improvements.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to the DFT and automation roadmap within CMA.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven industry experience implementing DFT and developing DFT methodology and flow integration for complex SoCs.
  • Deep practical knowledge of scan, compression, ATPG, MBIST/LBIST, JTAG/IEEE 1149.x, IEEE 1687, and hierarchical DFT approaches.
  • Experience integrating DFT into implementation, verification, and signoff flows.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard DFT EDA tools.
  • Strong automation/scripting skills (Python, Tcl, Shell, or similar).
  • Strong debugging, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence cross-functional technical direction.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with advanced-node SoC development and chiplet/multi-die architectures.
  • Experience developing CAD, methodology, or automation infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with automotive, safety, or production test requirements.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
