Job Title

Staff Design Evaluation Engineer

Role Summary

As a Staff Design Evaluation Engineer on the Power Control team, you will lead post‑silicon validation for complex power IC programs supporting Datacenter and Energy products. You will define evaluation strategy, develop measurement methodologies and automation, and coordinate cross‑functional efforts across design, applications, and customers.

Experience Level

Senior - requires 6+ years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor post‑silicon validation, characterization, and debug.

Responsibilities

Lead evaluation efforts, develop methodologies and tools, and mentor less experienced engineers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead post‑silicon validation strategy from pre‑silicon planning through production release for complex power IC programs.
  • Develop and advance evaluation methodologies, measurement techniques, and automated test frameworks.
  • Influence design‑for‑test and evaluation readiness prior to tape‑out across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Integrate AI tools and advanced automation to accelerate evaluation development and execution.
  • Resolve complex characterization and silicon debug issues; lead cross‑functional problem resolution.
  • Act as principal technical contact with design leads, applications engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multi‑site test, design, applications, and business teams; often serve in project leadership roles.
  • Mentor and direct less experienced engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Anticipate changes in project direction and proactively redirect evaluation efforts.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • 6+ years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor post‑silicon validation, characterization, and debug.
  • Demonstrated expertise with power management ICs (controllers, converters, LDOs, PMICs).
  • Experience with lab equipment: DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, SMU, and electronic loads.
  • Proven ability to automate lab bench setups using Python, C, C#, or equivalent.
  • Experience with hardware development for evaluation: PCB schematic entry, layout, and debug using tools such as SPICE, Altium, PADs, or Allegro.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across the organization.
  • Proven track record of mentoring engineers and directing technical work without formal management authority.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with a broad range of power supply topologies and control schemes; experience with National Instruments PXI or similar automated test platforms; FPGA development experience for test and measurement; knowledge of the power applications industry landscape.

Education Requirements

Preferred: M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). Acceptable: B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with significant industry experience. No other degrees or certifications specified; equivalent practical experience is implied by the BSEE with significant industry experience statement.
