Job Title
Staff Design Evaluation Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Post-Silicon Engineering team to lead bench evaluation and validation for new SoC products in the Digital Business Unit. The role covers first-silicon bring-up through full validation across process, voltage, and temperature corners, working closely with Design, Product Test Engineering, and Applications teams.
Experience Level
Senior; the posting requests approximately 4β8 years of relevant hands-on experience in digital/mixed-signal validation and firmware development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on post-silicon evaluation, test development, automation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure production readiness.
- Design and build bench hardware and software for digital and mixed-signal SoC validation.
- Drive hardware and silicon bring-up, functional validation, debug, and PVT characterization.
- Develop, execute, and automate test scripts for validation, debug, and characterization.
- Engage early with Design to improve DFT, debug capability, and testability.
- Define and execute Silicon Characterization and Measurement plans with Product and Test Engineering.
- Define system-level use cases with Applications teams for bench validation and customer-focused testing.
- Correlate bench evaluation results with production test data to support product ramp and release.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for successful performance in this role.
- 4β8 years hands-on experience in high-speed digital validation and firmware development for MCUs (ARM Cortex), DSPs, and NPUs.
- Strong experience in MCU/processor test firmware development.
- Experience with electrical compliance characterization and system validation of high-speed interfaces (DDR3, PCIe, CSI, USB, HDMI).
- Experience characterizing precision analog IPs such as ADCs, DACs, and voltage references.
- Familiarity validating communication protocols (I2C, SPI, USB and other serial interfaces).
- Experience running system-level performance benchmarks for power and speed across MCUs, DSPs, and NPUs.
- Familiarity with embedded toolchains (IAR, Keil, or similar) and strong programming skills in Python, C, C#, and VHDL/Verilog.
- Hands-on experience with bench instruments: oscilloscopes, Audio Precision systems, signal generators, and analyzers.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Design, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering.
- May require export licensing review for access to certain technical data; non-US applicants may be subject to additional review.
Education Requirements
B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is specified in the posting.
