Job Title
Staff Design Engineer - HBM Design
Role Summary
Design and analyze digital and analog circuits for HBM base die and core DRAM die. Lead circuit simulation, optimization, floor-planning and layout activities while collaborating with cross-functional and global design, verification, test, process, and product teams to deliver manufacturable HBM products.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies approximately 5 years of relevant experience in the role or a related occupation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical design, verification, and coordination across teams. Key tasks:
- Design and analyze digital and analog circuit blocks (memory array, I/O buffers, control logic, address decode, datapath, internal test logic, LDOs, pumps, BGR, etc.).
- Simulate and optimize circuits using industry tools (HSPICE, FINESIM, Verilog, etc.) and import extracted paras for co-simulation.
- Lead floor-planning, placement and routing optimization; oversee layout and extraction processes.
- Develop and maintain memory behavioral models and testbenches; participate in Verilog-Spice co-sim and UVM testbench development.
- Perform reliability verification, design validation, reticle experiments, and tape-out revisions as required.
- Coordinate with Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly and Marketing to meet performance, cost, quality, reliability and time-to-market targets.
- Document designs, communicate best practices, provide training, and coordinate with standards/CAD/modeling/verification groups to improve design quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools:
- CMOS circuit design and device physics; state machine logic and design verification techniques; high-speed circuit design and optimization.
- Experience developing memory behavioral models using SystemVerilog.
- Knowledge of HBM specification, design and verification.
- Verilog testbench development and UVM experience.
- Layout extraction knowledge (SPF, SDF, or similar) and Verilog-Spice co-simulation.
- Scripting proficiency (Python, Tcl, or similar) for automation and tooling.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field is specified, together with about 5 years of relevant experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
