Role Summary

Design and develop bulk acoustic wave (BAW) devices and RF components for defense, aerospace, satellite communications and wireless infrastructure applications in the 1–12 GHz range. Work covers product definition, feasibility, simulation, optimization, layout, manufacturability and test characterization.

This role contributes engineering expertise to module-level designs and to improving design flow and manufacturability.

Experience Level

Senior — staff-level engineering role. The posting expects several years of hands-on RF/BAW design experience; specific guidance in the posting includes a bachelor’s degree plus 3 years design experience or advanced degree preferred, and 3+ years of direct acoustic design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design BAW devices using ladder filters, coupled-resonator (CRF), and hybrid filter topologies.
• Perform acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations and optimization using commercial and internally developed tools.
• Produce layouts and generate photomask sets for device fabrication.
• Characterize devices and perform diagnostics using RF/microwave test equipment.
• Contribute RF expertise to integrated module designs within cross-functional teams.
• Drive improvements in design flow, cycle time, and product manufacturability.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience:

• Must-have: Hands-on experience with RF design, schematic-level design, RF/EM simulation, and layout for RF components.
• Must-have: Experience in device characterization and diagnostics with RF/microwave test equipment.
• Must-have: Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to own projects.
• Preferred: Direct acoustic design experience (BAW or SAW); the posting calls out 3+ years preferred.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AWR-Microwave Office and HFSS or similar EM tools.
• Preferred: Understanding of microelectronic fabrication and high-volume manufacturing practices.
• Work style: Self-driven, motivated, able to work effectively in teams and improve design processes.

Education Requirements

PhD or master’s degree in electrical engineering or physics with an RF focus is preferred. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or physics plus an additional 3 years of design experience is required.
