Staff Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Staff Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design transistor-level RFICs and integrate RF front-end modules for mobile wireless applications, focusing on low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), switches, and multi-chip modules. Work within a core design team and with cross-functional partners to move designs from specification through production release.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff). Role typically requires several years of professional RFIC design experience; role expects candidates with track records of shipping production RFIC products.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include end-to-end RFIC design, verification, and product integration.
- Perform detailed transistor-level RFIC design for LNAs, switches, and integrated modules using advanced process technologies.
- Define product requirements with engineering and product/marketing managers.
- Create and execute development plans covering design, simulation, layout, and verification testing.
- Integrate RFICs into multi-chip modules (MCM) and support module-level design activities.
- Use RF measurement equipment, perform measurements, and troubleshoot test issues.
- Document design work, present results internally, and participate in peer design reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to move products to production release.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proven record of designing and releasing production RFICs in RF CMOS, RF SOI, and/or BiCMOS technologies.
- Proficiency with RFIC EDA tools such as Cadence and Keysight ADS.
- Experience with EM simulators (HFSS, ADS Momentum, or similar) and with linear and nonlinear simulation techniques.
- Deep transistor-level knowledge of RF and microwave IC design techniques, including RF switching, LNAs, and bias circuits.
- Experience with RF measurement setups and ability to diagnose measurement issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 5+ years of directly applicable experience, or a PhD degree.
