Staff ASIC STA Engineer
TensordyneJob Title
Staff ASIC STA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead STA (Static Timing Analysis) engineering and workflow development for Tensordyne's generative AI inference ASIC products. Work with backend and frontend physical-design teams to define and deliver robust, scalable timing closure flows for block- and full-chip designs.
Experience Level
Senior - requires substantial experience; the posting specifies 10+ years of hands-on ASIC engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include owning STA flows, guiding teams, and improving timing closure and tool automation.
- Lead development of physical STA design and engineering workflows for generative AI inference ASICs.
- Guide and mentor colleagues on frontend physical design practices related to STA at block and full-chip levels.
- Drive optimization, implementation, and timing exploration for full-chip STA flows.
- Develop and improve scalable, reliable tools and systems for high-performance timing analysis.
- Collaborate with ASIC design, verification, and backend teams to resolve timing issues and improve design flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on ASIC engineering experience with VLSI/SoC physical design workflows.
- Deep knowledge of STA EDA tools such as Cadence/Synopsys PrimeTime or Tempus and clocking methodology.
- Experience writing SDCs and hierarchical constraints for high-speed IP interfaces (PCIe, SerDes).
- Proven ability to lead backend design teams and address STA timing issues, clock-tree issues, and timing ECO generation.
- Familiarity with Genus/Innovus usage for STA analysis and interaction with physical implementation tools.
- Expertise in timing-closure processes, hierarchical constraints, and full-chip timing optimization.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across a global engineering team.
- Nice-to-have: experience with AI inference SoCs, low-power/high-performance design, or full-chip STA at advanced process nodes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
