Job Title
Staff ASIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement RTL for complex ASIC blocks and integrate IP into system-level designs. Work on front-end integration, automation, and cross-functional system integration with SOC design, verification, emulation, STA, physical design, and software teams.
Adopt AI-assisted tools where appropriate to improve engineering efficiency while maintaining secure and responsible usage.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7–10 years of ASIC design experience as indicated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities include design, integration, verification support, and automation.
- Design, implement, and debug complex digital logic and RTL.
- Integrate IP into larger subsystems and support front-end IP integration (Lint, CDC, Synthesis, ECO).
- Support timing analysis, code coverage, assertions, and other quality flows.
- Develop design automation and scripts using Python or other languages.
- Collaborate with SOC Design, SOC Design Verification, Emulation, STA, Physical Design, and software/systems teams for system integration.
- Use AI-assisted tools to enhance code quality, documentation, debugging, and to accelerate validation and automation tasks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Expertise in RTL and/or testbench development using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Solid understanding of digital ASIC design methodology and experience on large-scale designs.
- Familiarity with standard ASIC front-end and integration flows: Synthesis, Lint, CDC, ECO, timing analysis, code coverage, assertions.
- Hands-on experience with Design/Verification CAD tools (examples: ncsim, Design Compiler, Formality, PrimeTime).
- Knowledge of AMBA interconnect protocols (AXI/AHB).
- Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication skills; effective collaborator and teammate.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and across teams.
-
Preferred: scripting proficiency in TCL, Perl, or Python; experience with high-speed protocols (PCIe, USB, SATA, DisplayPort, HDMI); familiarity with storage/memory protocols (NVMe, SCSI, CXL, DDR); familiarity with AI/ML concepts and AI-enhanced EDA features.
Education Requirements
MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience required. The posting specifies 7–10 years of ASIC design experience. Equivalent experience in a related technical field is accepted.
