Job Title

Staff Applications Engineer - STA / Signoff

Role Summary

Provide applications engineering and technical support for signoff flows and tools, working directly with customer design teams and internal product groups to resolve static timing analysis, power integrity, signal integrity, and reliability signoff issues for advanced-node SoCs and 3DICs.

This role combines field-facing customer engineering, end-to-end technical ownership of escalations, and feedback into product development and deployment best practices.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting requests 3–5 years of hands-on semiconductor design experience; the title indicates a senior/staff role expected to lead technical engagements.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include customer-facing support, technical issue ownership, and collaboration with product and sales teams.

  • Deploy and support Synopsys signoff tools (PrimeTime, RedHawk-SC, PrimeClosure, PTECO, Tweaker, StarRC) at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve STA, PDN, SI, and reliability signoff challenges across chip, package, and system levels.
  • Own technical issues end-to-end for assigned accounts to unblock tapeouts and meet schedule targets.
  • Translate customer pain points and feature requests into actionable input for product development and roadmap priorities.
  • Support presales technical activities, demonstrating signoff solutions and articulating technical value to customers and sales teams.
  • Develop and maintain deployment guides, troubleshooting FAQs, and a knowledge base of EDA best practices.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve tools, methodologies, and customer engagement strategies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; nice-to-have items follow.

Must-have:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on semiconductor design experience with deep expertise in static timing analysis, timing closure, ECO implementation, or power delivery network analysis at block or SoC level.
  • Proven experience providing technical support or applications engineering for timing signoff or power integrity, including direct customer interaction and issue resolution.
  • Working proficiency with Synopsys signoff tools such as PrimeTime, RedHawk-SC, PrimeClosure, PTECO, Tweaker, or StarRC in real design environments.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Tcl, or Perl) to automate workflows and analyze results.
  • Ability to present technical content to engineers and engineering leaders and to manage multiple customer engagements.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with PDN implementation flows, advanced-node design challenges, or 3DIC methodologies.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
