Staff Applications Engineer - Compute Subsystems

Role Summary

Provide technical support and enablement for partners using Arm IP and subsystem products targeted at Server and Hyperscale Computing. Act as the customer's technical contact to analyse issues, recommend SoC and subsystem optimizations, and influence product improvements.

Collaborate with engineering and product teams, deliver training, test IP deliverables, and produce application notes, example code, and knowledge-base content.

Senior β€” typically requires 8+ years of experience in the ASIC industry.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely, accurate technical responses to customer questions and incidents.
  • Perform SoC and system design reviews and recommend functionality and optimization changes.
  • Work with IP design and product management to improve partner experience and influence feature development.
  • Develop and deliver technical training (onsite and remote) for customers' development teams.
  • Test IP deliverables, raise defects, and provide feedback to design teams prior to customer release.
  • Recreate and debug RTL issues; assist customers with integration and validation.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to team best practices and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 8+ years experience in the ASIC industry.
  • Strong HDL competence (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL).
  • Good knowledge of CPU architecture principles and SoC design principles.
  • Familiarity with ASIC/SoC design processes and strong RTL debug skills.
  • Experience with scripting (Perl, Python).
  • Ability to work with distributed/remote teams and excellent written and spoken English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of AMBA bus protocols.
  • Familiarity with the Arm Architecture.
  • Experience with PCIe, CXL, or CCIX.

Education Requirements

BSc degree or higher in Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification; equivalent practical experience accepted.
