Staff Application Engineer (Verification Tools)
Role Summary
Provide advanced technical support and lead adoption of Synopsys EDA verification tools for customer verification environments. Work with R&D, global application engineers, and customers to resolve escalations, drive tool migrations, and improve verification flows.
Lead and mentor a team of application engineers and contribute to technical strategy and customer relationships.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Posting indicates typically 3+ years of Design and Verification or Application Engineer experience; leadership experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer support, leading technical initiatives, and team leadership.
- Provide advanced technical support for verification tools (e.g., VCS, Verdi, Spyglass, Certitude, Z01X) and resolve complex customer issues.
- Lead tool migrations and bring up verification environments and Verification IPs.
- Collaborate with R&D, global application engineering teams, and customers to define requirements and address escalations.
- Develop technical documentation, run knowledge transfer sessions, and mentor junior engineers.
- Plan and lead technical campaigns and activities to secure and expand market adoption.
- Manage customer and internal stakeholder relationships to ensure successful deployments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership capabilities, and communication skills.
- 3+ years in design and verification or application engineering in the verification field.
- Strong experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, and VHDL; UPF is a plus.
- Practical knowledge of verification methodologies, static and dynamic verification, and Verification IPs (e.g., AMBA VIP).
- Experience with Synopsys EDA verification tool suite (VCS, Verdi, Spyglass, Certitude, Z01X) or equivalent tools.
- Proven leadership: managing or leading a team, mentoring, and driving operational excellence.
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and across regions.
- Ability to manage customer escalations and build customer trust.
- Interest in new tools and AI-assisted workflows is desirable.
