Role Summary

Senior application engineer on the Physical Implementation / Implementation Solutions team supporting customers on synthesis-to-GDS flows, PPA optimization, and migration to new technology nodes. Work closely with customers, product development, and R&D to deliver technical solutions and improve EDA tool quality-of-results.

Experience Level

Senior — requires at least 5+ years of relevant industry experience in synthesis, implementation, or related EDA domains.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership to solve implementation and verification challenges and to enable customers to achieve target PPA and migration goals.

• Resolve complex PPA (performance, power, area) and synthesis issues using Synopsys implementation technologies.
• Develop, debug, and optimize synthesis and implementation methodologies and RTL-to-GDS flows.
• Benchmark Synopsys solutions versus competitors and demonstrate superior results to displace alternative flows.
• Investigate formal verification and early power estimation challenges and provide actionable solutions.
• Translate customer findings into R&D requirements and help drive tool enhancements.
• Deploy new tool features and enable customer migration to updated EDA tool versions and technology nodes.
• Act as customer advocate during internal discussions and represent the product externally as a technical ambassador.
• Collaborate with R&D and product teams to shape future technology direction and methodology improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in synthesis and implementation flows; proven ability to debug synthesis issues.
• Practical experience driving methodology changes to meet PPA targets for complex designs.
• Advanced scripting and automation skills (TCL, Unix shell, Perl) for tool integration and debugging.
• Strong communication skills and experience interfacing directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and debug capabilities; ability to manage multiple priorities and drive resolutions.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with formal verification tools and flows; exposure to AI/ML-based implementation techniques.
