Role Summary
Member of the Application Engineering team in Bengaluru focused on physical implementation (RTL→GDS) workflows. The role delivers technical solutions to customers, optimizes implementation flows for PPA (performance, power, area), and feeds product requirements back to R&D.
Experience Level
Senior — the role expects experienced engineers. The posting specifies at least 3+ years of experience in physical implementation (RTL→GDS).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include hands-on implementation work, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with product and R&D teams.
- Solve complex PPA challenges using Synopsys implementation technologies (AI/ML implementation, Physical Synthesis, RTL→GDS flows, CTS, Indesign Fusion).
- Benchmark Synopsys flows against competitors and demonstrate superior results to displace alternative flows.
- Develop, debug, and optimize RTL→GDS implementation methodologies for advanced process nodes.
- Identify and resolve design and EDA tool issues; provide actionable technical solutions to customers.
- Translate technical findings into R&D requirements and drive tool enhancements.
- Deploy new tool features and enable customer migrations to newer EDA releases and nodes.
- Proactively identify customer pain points and propose practical solutions.
- Act as customer advocate in internal discussions and represent the product externally.
Requirements
Candidate must demonstrate the technical background and communication skills needed to support customers and drive methodology improvements.
Must-have:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Physical Implementation (RTL→GDS) with proven ability to debug and resolve synthesis and P&R challenges.
- Strong experience with implementation methodologies focused on achieving PPA targets for complex designs.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills (TCL, Unix shell, Perl).
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers and internal R&D/product teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Proficiency with Synopsys implementation tools and flows.
- Experience benchmarking and displacing competitor flows.
