Job Title

Staff Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and verify high-speed analog/mixed-signal ICs for optical interconnects and memory tester products. The role focuses on circuit architecture, behavioral modeling, mixed-signal simulation, pre-tapeout verification, and laboratory characterization to deliver production-ready IP and products.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 8+ years (with an M.S. or Ph.D.) or 10+ years (with a B.S.); substantial industry experience in high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC design.

Responsibilities

Work on end-to-end design and verification of high-speed mixed-signal circuits and support production and lab characterization.

  • Design and verify circuits such as CDRs/PLLs, high-speed samplers, TIAs, CTLEs, VGAs, equalizers, and output drivers for NRZ, PAM4, LPO, and CPO up to 224 Gbps.
  • Develop behavioral models (CDR/PLL) to evaluate architectures and derive block-level requirements.
  • Execute top-level mixed-signal simulations and mixed-mode co-simulation flows to validate system performance.
  • Perform pre-tapeout verification for performance, power, reliability, and timing compliance.
  • Define production and bench-level test plans and collaborate with lab engineers on characterization and ATE testing.
  • Analyze ATE and lab results, debug yield issues, and drive design fixes.
  • Lead and present block design reviews; collaborate with digital, layout, test, and applications teams through production.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience required for the role.

  • Demonstrated design experience in deep sub-micron CMOS for mixed-signal/high-speed applications.
  • Strong understanding of CDR/PLL top-level requirements and behavioral modeling techniques.
  • Experience running top-level mixed-signal simulation flows (AMS, mixed-mode co-simulation).
  • Proficiency with Cadence tools: Virtuoso, Spectre, AMS Designer.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging abilities; strong communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel for work-related activities (approximately 10%).
  • Nice-to-have: prior design experience at β‰₯112 Gbps, familiarity with high-power DC-DC buck converters, and layout techniques for high-speed circuits.

Education Requirements

M.S.E.E. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on analog/mixed-signal IC design (preferred) or B.S.E.E. with equivalent industry experience. The posting explicitly permits B.S.E.E. plus 10+ years of relevant experience in place of an advanced degree.
