Job Title

Staff Analog & Mixed-Signal Design Engineer - Power/ATE

Role Summary

Join the Analog Devices ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) instrumentation design team to develop high-performance power-delivery and measurement mixed-signal ICs from concept through production release. The role focuses on architecture, circuit design, simulation, characterization, and resolving complex chip-level issues in the lab.

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (preferred) with Wilmington, MA as an alternate location.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting specifies approximately 7+ years of CMOS IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define architecture and lead design of complex mixed-signal ICs through production release.
  • Optimize designs for power, performance, and area while meeting quality standards.
  • Collaborate with digital design and verification teams for block and chip-level integration and verification.
  • Coordinate requirements and product transitions with product definition, applications, and test engineering teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional engineering reviews.
  • Perform laboratory characterization, debug, and root-cause analysis of complex integrated circuit issues.
  • Manage layout coordination and execute post-layout simulations to validate silicon readiness.

Requirements

Must-have skills and technical capabilities are listed first, followed by desirable qualifications.

Must-have:

  • Hands-on experience with high-gain/low-noise amplifiers, comparators, integrators, and voltage references.
  • Experience with switching regulator circuits, LDOs, ADCs, and DACs in mixed-signal designs.
  • Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE-based circuit simulation workflows.
  • Laboratory test and characterization skills for analog/mixed-signal ICs; ability to diagnose silicon issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Experience with layout coordination and post-layout verification flows.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with BiCMOS analog design techniques.
  • Expertise in MATLAB or similar modeling and analysis tools.
  • Analog/digital behavioral modeling experience.
  • Prior team or project leadership experience in IC development programs.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is stated as the educational requirement. The posting also specifies ~7+ years of CMOS IC design experience.
