Staff Analog IC Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Staff Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate high-performance analog power management ICs (PMICs, DC-DC converters, motor control, battery management). Lead architecture and transistor-level design while collaborating with layout, test, and global cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, reliable silicon.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation to be onsite multiple days per week at either the San Jose, CA or Richardson, TX office.
Experience Level
Senior - 8+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry; 6+ years in analog/mixed-signal IC design focused on power converter architectures. Equivalent practical experience accepted.
Responsibilities
Accountable for architecture, circuit design, validation, and handoff to layout and test teams.
- Lead design and development of analog power management ICs to meet efficiency, density, and reliability targets.
- Define product architecture and specifications with system engineers, balancing performance, power, and cost.
- Select and implement robust circuit topologies for manufacturability and yield.
- Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and validation to meet functional and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning, parasitics, and silicon performance.
- Work with global teams to align development strategy and execution.
- Partner with test and characterization teams to define validation and production test strategies and resolve design issues.
- Drive technical reviews and produce clear documentation of design decisions and trade-offs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education details are in the Education Requirements section below.
- 8+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including DC-DC power converter architectures and control methods (voltage-mode, current-mode)
- Transistor-level design, simulation, and validation experience
- Experience with EDA flows and tools for parasitic extraction, EMIR/capacitive coupling analysis, and floating-node issues
- Experience with production release of power management ICs and working across layout and test teams
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, and ADS
- Hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees.
