Job Title
Staff Analog Design Engineer, Mixed-Signal Design
Role Summary
Design transistor-level precision analog building blocks—references, amplifiers, bias networks, comparators, oscillators, and temperature sensors—for ADI's products in the Shanghai design center. Collaborate with global design teams to deliver high-accuracy, low-noise signal-chain components through tape-out and production.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of analog IC design experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include circuit design, verification, and silicon bring-up.
- Design and implement transistor-level precision analog circuits: op-amps, OTAs, references, bandgaps, bias generators, comparators, oscillators, temperature sensors.
- Execute schematic capture, simulation, layout oversight, and post-layout verification; support tape-out and production release.
- Perform matching analysis, noise budgeting, offset reduction, and design-for-manufacturing using Monte Carlo and statistical methods.
- Develop trimming, calibration, and digitally enhanced techniques to meet accuracy targets across process, voltage, temperature, and lifetime.
- Support silicon bring-up, debug, and correlate measurements to simulations.
- Collaborate with system and architecture teams on trade-offs between precision, power, area, and bandwidth.
- Apply or evaluate AI/ML tools to improve design automation, optimization, and modeling workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and abilities.
- Strong transistor-level design skills for high-performance precision analog circuits.
- Proven track record delivering designs through tape-out, silicon validation, and production release.
- Solid understanding of CMOS and BCD device physics, matching, and layout-dependent effects.
- Proficiency with Cadence tools: Virtuoso, Spectre/APS, and AMS Designer.
- Deep knowledge of noise analysis, offset trimming, PSRR, CMRR, and precision design techniques.
- Fluent in Mandarin; strong written and verbal English for cross-site collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams; willingness to travel ~10%.
- Preferred (nice-to-have): experience with advanced process nodes, high-voltage or low-power design, temperature compensation, curvature correction, and familiarity with AI/ML techniques applied to design workflows.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 7+ years of analog IC design experience, or Ph.D. with 5+ years; BSEE with equivalent practical experience considered. Fields: analog/analog IC design, electrical engineering, or closely related technical disciplines. Equivalent industry experience accepted.
