Job Title

Staff Analog Design Engineer (Mixed-Signal)

Role Summary

Design precision transistor-level analog building blocks (references, amplifiers, comparators, oscillators, temperature sensors, bias networks) used across ADI products. Work in the Shanghai design center and collaborate with global design teams to advance precision analog capabilities on next-generation process technologies.

Experience Level

Senior β€” experienced analog IC engineer. Expected to have substantial experience delivering designs through tape-out, silicon validation, and production release (guidance: multi-year senior experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include full-design ownership from specification through silicon bring-up and cross-site collaboration.

  • Design and implement precision analog blocks at the transistor level (op amps, OTAs, voltage/current references, bandgaps, bias generators, comparators, oscillators, temperature sensors).
  • Execute schematic capture, simulation, oversee layout, and perform post-layout verification and correlation to silicon.
  • Perform matching analysis, noise budgeting, and offset/drift reduction across process corners and temperature.
  • Develop trimming, calibration, and digitally enhanced techniques to meet accuracy targets over life and environment.
  • Support silicon bring-up, debug measured vs simulated results, and drive production release activities.
  • Collaborate on architecture trade-offs balancing precision metrics (offset, gain error, drift, PSRR, CMRR) against power, area, and bandwidth.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques to improve design automation, optimization, and modeling workflows.
  • Travel for collaboration and meetings as required (approximately 10% travel).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.

  • Strong transistor-level design skills for high-performance precision analog circuits; demonstrable delivery through tape-out to production.
  • Solid understanding of CMOS and BCD process technologies, device physics, matching, and layout-dependent effects.
  • Proficiency with Cadence design tools (Virtuoso, Spectre/APS, AMS Designer).
  • Deep knowledge of noise analysis, offset trimming, precision design techniques, and statistical yield methods (Monte Carlo, design centering).
  • Experience with silicon reliability concerns (electromigration, HCI, NBTI) and design-for-manufacturing practices.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and strong English written and verbal communication for cross-site collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams and contribute to design reviews.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with advanced process nodes, high-voltage or ultra-low-power design techniques.
  • Familiarity with temperature compensation, curvature correction, and precision calibration architectures.
  • Practical experience applying AI/ML to design automation or modeling workflows.

Education Requirements

MSEE with 7+ years of analog IC design experience, or PhD with 5+ years; BSEE considered if it provides equivalent depth of experience. Equivalent practical experience considered where stated.
