Staff Analog Design Engineer
Analog DevicesJob Title
Staff Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Experienced staff-level analog / mixed-signal IC design engineer to join the Shanghai design team. Responsible for defining architectures and transistor-level solutions, driving complex designs from concept through silicon and production, and collaborating with systems, product, layout, test, and process teams.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 7+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal IC design experience (senior/staff level expectations).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include circuit and subsystem design, verification, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Design analog and mixed-signal circuits at transistor, block, and subsystem levels.
- Translate end-application and customer requirements into IC specifications and architectures.
- Own designs through architecture, schematic design, simulation, layout supervision, post-layout verification, silicon bring-up, debug, and production release.
- Identify technical challenges, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver robust solutions with strong ownership.
- Optimize for performance, power, area, accuracy, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Collaborate with systems, applications, product, test, layout, and process teams across locations.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, silicon debug, and mentor other engineers.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.
- Strong fundamentals in analog IC design: devices, feedback/stability, noise, matching, and transistor-level analysis.
- Broad hands-on design experience across amplifiers, comparators, references, data converters, drivers, sensing, protection, or power-management circuits.
- Proven track record taking IC designs through tape-out, silicon validation, and production release.
- Ability to understand system-level and end-application requirements and apply them to IC architectures.
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to drive solutions independently.
- Experience with industry-standard IC design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with motor control, motor-driver ICs, gate drivers, current/voltage sensing, protection, or power stages.
- Experience in automotive, industrial, power management, or precision analog applications.
- Experience with BCD/high-voltage processes and power devices.
- Strong silicon-debug and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with ~7+ years relevant experience, or Ph.D. with ~5+ years relevant experience; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
