Role Summary

The Staff Analog Design Engineer will lead design and delivery of complex analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, provide technical leadership on critical projects, and mentor other engineers. The role works across architecture, design, layout guidance, silicon validation and cross-functional teams to deliver production-quality ICs.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal IC design experience; demonstrated tape-outs and silicon validation experience expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include hands-on design, architecture, and cross-disciplinary coordination from concept through production.

• Perform feasibility, conceptual and detailed mixed-signal IC design in deep sub-micron CMOS processes.
• Design analog blocks and paths (amplifiers, data converters, PLLs, clocking, bandgaps, etc.) and ensure PVT performance.
• Translate customer requirements into chip- and block-level specifications, balancing area, cost and power.
• Guide floorplanning and provide layout guidance to physical design engineers to meet electrical and performance targets.
• Collaborate with RF, process, test, verification, product and application engineers; support silicon validation and lab debug.
• Create and present design and evaluation documentation and participate in design reviews.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership to engineering team members.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; separate the most important qualifications from desirable additions.

• Extensive experience in analog or mixed-signal IC design with multiple successful tape-outs and silicon validation.
• Expert-level ability to design and analyze complex analog circuits and optimize for specific applications.
• Design experience across several of: RF amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, VGAs, data converters, PLL/VCO/clock generation, bandgaps, and op-amps.
• Strong mixed-signal integration skills: signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
• Deep understanding of layout considerations (parasitics, matching) and ability to guide layout decisions.
• Practical knowledge of deep submicron technologies; understanding of electromigration and aging; FinFET experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with industry tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, EMX, SPICE; familiarity with EM and circuit verification tools.
• Hands-on test and debug experience, strong lab skills, and silicon evaluation capability.
• Proven technical leadership and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Education Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field is expected; a Master's degree or higher is strongly desirable. The posting specifies about 10 years of work experience in lieu of advanced degree for senior-level candidates.
