Staff Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate behavioral and timing models (including IBIS) for Synopsys memory interface IP products used by SoC designers and board teams. The role sits at the intersection of transistor-level analog characterization, model extraction, and customer-facing validation and support.

You will produce model deliverables and timing collateral that enable customers to integrate DDR, LPDDR, HBM, and UCIe interfaces reliably into systems.

Experience Level

Senior-level — requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in analog/mixed-signal design, characterization, or modeling for high-speed memory interfaces.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include model creation, validation, and customer-facing technical deliverables.

• Generate and validate IBIS models for DDR, LPDDR, HBM, and UCIe interfaces, ensuring industry-standard compliance.
• Develop timing characterization data and customer-facing timing collateral for board-level design and signal integrity analysis.
• Extract behavioral models from transistor-level simulations and correlate against silicon characterization across PVT corners.
• Collaborate with analog design and layout teams to capture real circuit behavior and ensure model accuracy.
• Investigate and debug model discrepancies, timing violations, and signal integrity issues reported by customers or internal validation teams.
• Maintain and improve model validation processes to reduce customer escalations and accelerate model release cycles.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in analog/mixed-signal design, characterization, or modeling for high-speed interfaces.
• Strong understanding of IBIS modeling standards and timing model formats used in memory interface design.
• Direct experience with DDR, LPDDR, HBM, or other high-speed memory interface protocols and signaling.
• Proficiency with SPICE simulation tools such as HSPICE or Spectre for transistor-level characterization and model extraction.
• Experience debugging timing and signal integrity issues at board and system level.
• Ability to communicate model assumptions and limitations clearly to design teams and customers.
• Nice-to-have: experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Tcl) for automation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
