STA Engineer
QualcommJob Title
STA Engineer
Role Summary
Perform static timing analysis (STA) setup, convergence, reviews, and signoff for multi-mode, multi-voltage SoC and subsystem designs. Validate timing and debug issues across multiple PVT conditions and optimize STA flows.
Work within the Hardware Engineering group and collaborate with design, DFT, synthesis, technology, CAD and physical implementation teams to achieve timing closure.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for the STA Engineer role include:
- Set up and run STA flows for multi-mode, multi-voltage domain designs and deliver timing signoff.
- Validate and debug timing across multiple PVT corners using tools such as PrimeTime and Tempus.
- Correlate Spice to STA results and optimize timing convergence.
- Implement and manage ECO timing flows and perform logical equivalence checks (e.g. DMSA, tweaker, PrimeClosure).
- Develop and automate STA/PD flows and timing methodologies using scripting (TCL/Perl/Python).
- Apply and verify low-power timing techniques including clock gating, power gating, and multi-voltage designs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, DFT, synthesis, technology, CAD and physical implementation teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience:
- Practical STA experience: setup, convergence, and signoff for complex SoC/subsystem designs.
- Experience using PrimeTime and/or Tempus for timing analysis and debug.
- Experience with ECO timing flows and logical equivalence checking tools.
- Proficiency in scripting for flow automation (TCL, Perl, Python).
- Experience correlating Spice to STA results and optimizing flows.
- Knowledge of low-power timing techniques and multi-voltage domain timing considerations.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with engineering teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (as listed in the minimum qualifications).
