Job Title

SSD Hardware Architect

Role Summary

Design and architect hardware for Micron’s next-generation solid state drives (SSDs). Work cross-functionally with firmware, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams to define hardware architectures, ensure power and signal integrity, and move designs from concept to production.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 10+ years of hardware design and system architecture experience.

Responsibilities

Lead hardware architecture and implementation for SSD products and provide technical leadership across the hardware team.

  • Define system-level hardware architectures, requirements, and participate in design reviews.
  • Design power topologies and ensure power integrity across subsystems.
  • Simulate and analyze circuits and subsystems; recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with firmware, system, and validation teams to meet product goals.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other hardware engineers.

Requirements

Must-have: Core technical skills, tools, and experience required for the role.

  • 10+ years of experience in hardware design and system architecture.
  • Strong foundation in circuit design, transmission line fundamentals, and power & signal integrity.
  • Experience with PCB design, high-speed routing, and power subsystem implementation.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as SPICE, IBIS, or Hspice.
  • Working knowledge of commercially available PMICs and low-voltage regulators.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience designing hardware for large-scale manufacturing, including DFx considerations.
  • Hands-on power integrity analysis in lab environments.
  • Familiarity with PCB stack-up design, advanced via technologies, and design constraint definition.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and experience guiding or mentoring engineers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
