Sr. Tech Lead Design Verification Engineering
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Sr. Tech Lead Design Verification Engineering
Role Summary
Lead a silicon design verification engineering team to plan and execute verification for processor/core-level designs. Manage technical direction, delivery schedules, cross-functional collaboration, and escalations while improving verification methodology and debug capabilities.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting does not specify years of experience.
Responsibilities
Own technical and managerial delivery for a verification team and coordinate across design and program stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor a team of verification engineers; establish priorities and drive execution across multiple programs.
- Provide technical guidance on processor micro-architecture, low-power verification, and debug triage from simulation and emulation.
- Architect and scale verification environments and flows; develop testbenches using industry methodologies (e.g., UVM).
- Plan and execute coverage-driven verification, closure activities, and regression strategies.
- Coordinate with design/RTL, DFT, PD, and SoC teams to align features, scoping, and problem resolution.
- Produce clear status roll-ups, mitigation plans, and executive-level summaries; handle escalations and customer engagements.
- Drive team innovation, publications, and intellectual property (patents); represent the team to partners and vendors.
Requirements
Key technical and leadership requirements. Education credentials are summarized separately below.
- Must have: Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex silicon verification projects.
- Must have: Hands-on verification experience with SystemVerilog/UVM testbench development and C/C++ test code.
- Must have: Strong knowledge of processor micro-architecture, cache/coherency, data-consistency, clocking/reset/power-up sequencing and related verification techniques.
- Must have: Experience with coverage planning, coding, and closure; experience with emulation and post-silicon validation and debug.
- Must have: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Nice to have: Experience with x86, ARM or other industry-standard ISAs; prior SoC team experience; familiarity with physical design flow and DFT.
- Nice to have: Experience driving methodology changes, publishing technical papers, and contributing to patents.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering (as stated in the posting).
