Job Title

Sr Staff Product Engineer

Role Summary

Senior product engineer in the Optics Broad Band Analog group responsible for driving product engineering from low-volume into high-volume manufacturing. The role focuses on test coverage, yield and cost improvement, production methods, and cross-functional coordination with design, test, operations, planning, and quality teams.

Experience Level

Senior. Posting indicates approximately 5 years of related professional experience (see Education Requirements for degree-based variations).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on ensuring product quality, production readiness, and on-time delivery through test and process engineering.

  • Lead product engineering activities, including yield and cost improvement from low-volume to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Design and implement process-oriented, data-driven production methods to ensure product quality.
  • Own production test coverage: analyze production test limits, calculate guard bands, and define final datasheet specifications.
  • Collaborate with Design and Test Engineering to develop robust screening at wafer-probe and package levels, including test hardware design and RF test implementation.
  • Work with Operations and Planning to drive on-time delivery according to production backlog.
  • Provide product engineering support for customer returns, coordinating with Quality Engineering.
  • Support characterization and qualification activities for ongoing product requirements.
  • Support and apply Sipho/optics testing processes in production testing.

Requirements

Core skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

  • Proven track record leading product engineering and production test programs in semiconductor/optics environments.
  • Experience developing production test plans, defining guard bands, and producing datasheet-level specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with wafer-probe and package-level testing, RF test development, and test hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data-driven methods to improve yield and reduce cost in manufacturing.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with design, test, operations, planning, and quality teams.
  • Familiarity with Sipho/optics testing processes.
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology; candidates other than U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents may be subject to export license review.

Education Requirements

Posting specifies: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus ~5 years of related professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with ~2–3 years of related experience.

Compensation note: Expected base pay range listed as USD 119,300 - 176,600 per year. This role is eligible for bonus and equity plans.

Reasonable accommodation: applicants who require a reasonable accommodation during the selection process should contact Marvell HR Helpdesk.
