Job Title

Sr. Staff MCU and Digital Power Application Engineer, Taipei

Role Summary

Customer-facing application engineer focused on MCU-based systems that integrate power management and digital power control. The role supports customers and internal teams to enable design-ins, develop proofs-of-concept, and resolve system-level issues that combine MCUs and power products.

Works with field applications, product and business units to deliver technical solutions, trainings, and documentation for digital power and embedded firmware integration.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of professional industry experience

Responsibilities

Primary duties include customer technical support, firmware development, system bring-up, digital power design, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Provide expert-level technical support to customers using Renesas MCUs and digital power products (PMICs, digital controllers, power SoCs).
  • Perform board bring-up, MCU peripheral configuration, and system-level debugging.
  • Assist customers with digital power solutions including DC‑DC converters, PMICs, and MCU-based power control.
  • Develop, debug, and optimize embedded firmware in C/C++ (bare-metal or RTOS).
  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions and technical collateral combining MCU and power solutions.
  • Design and tune digital control loops for voltage, current, power factor and multi-phase systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control stability, efficiency, EMI/EMC, transient response, and thermal performance.
  • Collaborate with FAEs, marketing, and business-unit engineering teams to support design-ins and customer escalations.
  • Deliver technical trainings, workshops, and customer presentations on digital power solutions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in embedded systems and digital power applications.
  • Strong experience in embedded MCU firmware development in C/C++ (bare-metal or RTOS).
  • Hands-on experience with digital power or power management systems (PMICs, DC‑DC converters, digital controllers).
  • Experience with board bring-up, MCU peripheral configuration, and system-level debugging.
  • Customer-facing experience (AE/FAE) and strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to develop proofs-of-concept and technical collateral for customers and internal teams.

Preferred:

  • RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Azure RTOS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with MCU peripherals and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Strong understanding of digital control theory for power electronics and control loop compensation (PID/digital compensators).
  • Experience with ADCs, PWMs, comparators, timers and power-system debugging (efficiency, transient response, thermal, EMI/EMC).
  • Familiarity with industrial or IoT applications (factory automation, energy, power infrastructure).
  • Experience developing reference boards, evaluation kits, or demo systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering is required; Master's degree preferred.
