Applications Engineer II
Role Summary
Join the 15.4 NPI Applications team to support customers integrating Silicon Labs' IEEE 802.15.4 wireless software stacks and to accelerate adoption of Zigbee, Thread, and Matter. The role sits at the intersection of customers, engineering, and product management and focuses on enabling product launches, solving complex technical issues, and driving design wins.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical support, debugging complex systems, and driving product readiness.
- Serve as a technical expert supporting customers integrating IEEE 802.15.4 wireless software stacks.
- Lead debugging, analysis, and resolution of complex embedded software, networking, and system-level issues in customer applications.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, training materials, application notes, and example applications.
- Partner with engineering, product management, and customer-facing teams to improve product readiness and solution quality.
- Translate customer feedback into actionable product and process improvements.
- Guide customer engagements from evaluation and design through deployment and production, including Alpha engagements and production readiness activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; additional items are desirable.
Must-have:
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in embedded C and embedded software architecture.
- Excellent problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and embedded-system debugging skills.
- Experience with networking software, protocols, and distributed system interactions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience working directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with IEEE 802.15.4-based protocols (Zigbee, Thread, Matter).
- Familiarity with low-power embedded systems and IoT device development.
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles (Applications Engineering, Field Applications, Technical Support).
- Experience driving technical engagements with strategic customers and influencing product direction.
Education Requirements
BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
