RenesasJob Title
Sr Staff Hardware Engineer, Virtual Prototype Modeling
Role Summary
Develop and maintain SystemC/TLM-based virtual prototypes of SoCs and electronic systems to enable embedded software development and verification. Work with firmware and software teams to deploy, validate and support virtual platforms across projects.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 10+ years of hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Core technical and team-support responsibilities for virtual prototype development and delivery.
- Develop SystemC/TLM2.0 models for IP blocks, CPUs, SoCs and system-level models.
- Define transaction-level models for processors, cache controllers, interconnects, peripherals, NPU and ISP.
- Port operating systems and develop device drivers on virtual prototypes.
- Verify and validate models at IP and SoC level.
- Create regressable, self-checking test suites using C and ARM assembly.
- Develop system-level flows, methodologies and regression frameworks using virtual prototypes.
- Support firmware and software teams in using, debugging and integrating virtual prototypes.
- Maintain virtual prototype toolchains and integrate tools into project workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proficiency in C, C++, SystemC, data structures, algorithms and object-oriented programming.
- Experience developing SystemC/TLM models for SoC virtual platforms and creating virtual prototypes of SoC or electronic systems.
- Experience with virtual prototype tools such as ARM Fast Models, Synopsys Virtualizer, Wind River SIMICS (or similar).
- Experience validating virtual prototypes, writing bare-metal tests; familiarity with embedded toolchains, assembly language and debugging.
- Knowledge of microprocessor/microcontroller/SoC architecture, bus protocols, caches, MMU and pipeline concepts.
- Experience working with quality processes, project execution and collaborating with distributed teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in application development in assembly or higher-level languages.
Nice-to-have:
- IP-XACT, SystemRDL, SystemC-AMS.
Education Requirements
MTech or BTech in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is specified. The posting indicates 10+ years of hardware engineering experience.
