Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer, System Level Test (Technical Lead)
Role Summary
Lead design and delivery of system-level test solutions for Qualcomm Snapdragon products. Work on IC design review, hardware testing, software development, system engineering, and customer applications as part of a cross-functional global team.
Responsible for project planning, resourcing, budgeting, vendor interaction, and reporting SLT deliverables to product management and leadership.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting expects very senior experience (examples in the posting include 14+ years in SoC/electronics project management or related fields) and leadership of engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading test engineering activities and delivering production-ready system test platforms.
- Define and drive hardware test solutions and interfaces with electronics test board design teams.
- Lead development and execution of production test platform roadmap and coordinate with vendors.
- Plan and track projects: tasks, timelines, resourcing, budgeting, and progress reporting.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators for team deliverables and cross-functional interaction.
- Drive cross-geography teams and coordinate work across engineering, verification, architecture, and product groups.
- Perform IC design reviews, system-level stress testing, fault isolation, and correlation activities.
- Present project status and technical matrices to management regularly.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Extensive experience in SoC or electronics project management, system test, automation, or computer engineering.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and own test solution development and delivery.
- Experience defining test hardware and interfacing with test board design and simulation teams.
- Experience driving production test platform programs and managing vendor execution.
- Background in semiconductor engineering, manufacturing processes, wireless standards, and design/test of wireless products.
- Ability to define KPIs and improve customer quality metrics.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to coordinate across global teams.
- Preferred: familiarity with ARM architecture, Test Sequencers, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Android internals, and source control/SCM tools.
- Preferred: software development experience in C#, Java, C++, Perl, or Python.
Education Requirements
Degree expectations stated in the posting: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field (with ~6+ years related experience); or Master's in those fields (with ~5+ years); or PhD in those fields (with ~4+ years). The posting also accepts equivalent practical work experience in lieu of a degree.
