Sr. Staff Field Applications Engineer (Switching)

Role Summary

As a Sr. Staff Field Applications Engineer on the Field Application Engineering team in Bangalore, you will support customers integrating Marvell Ethernet Switching products across the full product lifecycle — from presales evaluations through design, bring-up, production and post-production. You will act as a technical owner for customer programs, reproduce and debug issues in lab environments, and coordinate with R&D and product management to resolve escalations.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 8–12 years of software development or related engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical customer support, program ownership, and cross-functional escalation to enable customer product launches.

  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers integrating Marvell switching products.
  • Own customer programs and lead board/software bring-up and debugging efforts.
  • Replicate and diagnose customer-reported issues in a lab environment and work with R&D/product teams to resolve them.
  • Serve as a regional subject-matter expert on the Ethernet switching portfolio and author technical knowledge-base articles.
  • Collaborate with sales to address pre-sales queries and help win design engagements.
  • Coordinate with global FAE, R&D, and product management for escalations.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, followed by desirable qualifications.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in C and C++ and strong debugging skills.
  • Must-have: Solid knowledge of computer networking with hands-on experience in L2 switching and routing protocols.
  • Must-have: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Network OS (NOS), SAI/Sonic, Linux kernel and L1/L2 drivers.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with PCIe, TCAM, hash memories, SERDES, high-speed I/O, DMA controllers, MDIO, and I2C.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of enterprise, data center, and carrier network infrastructure; prior experience with Marvell switching products.
  • Nice-to-have: Previous technical customer-engineering experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The role specifies approximately 8–12 years of software development or equivalent engineering experience.
