Sr Staff Engineer - Verification, CI/CD Infrastructure & Embedded Hardware (AISW)
QualcommJob Title
Sr Staff Engineer — Verification, CI/CD Infrastructure & Embedded Hardware (AISW)
Role Summary
Senior individual contributor responsible for designing, scaling, and hardening CI/CD infrastructure and verification systems for Qualcomm's AI software stack. Work includes building large-scale automated pipelines, integrating embedded hardware test execution (DSP/NPU), and ensuring reliable, high-signal validation across software and hardware layers.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 10+ years in CI/CD engineering, verification, embedded systems, or runtime/toolchain development.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing, automating, and operating CI/CD and hardware verification systems to provide reliable regression validation at scale.
- Architect and scale distributed CI/CD systems for high throughput and low flakiness.
- Design automated workflows: build, package, deploy, flash, run, collect logs, triage, and dashboarding.
- Develop scheduling/orchestration layers for thousands of hardware-based regression tests.
- Implement monitoring, telemetry, and automated mitigation for CI stability.
- Develop embedded target test frameworks across DSP/NPU and automate flashing, provisioning, power/reset, and chipset bring-up.
- Design hardware-in-loop validation for stability, thermal behavior, long-run correctness, and performance.
- Own test coverage strategy and improve signal by automating triage and failure classification.
- Maintain CI/verification pipelines for internal and open-source projects; enforce PR gating and reproducible builds.
- Lead cross-functional technical deep-dives and align infrastructure with program milestones.
- Produce documentation and drive continuous improvement of HW testing workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 10+ years experience in CI/CD engineering, verification, embedded systems, or runtime/toolchain development.
- Proven experience designing and scaling CI/CD systems (e.g., Buildkite, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Deep experience integrating embedded hardware into automated pipelines and test farms.
- Hands-on experience with firmware flashing, device provisioning, power/reset automation, and board-farm debugging.
- Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash, C/C++).
- Experience maintaining open-source verification pipelines and artifact management.
- Strong debugging skills across runtime, driver, and inference layers; ability to triage software vs hardware failures.
- Proven ability to influence and work across DevOps, firmware, and platform teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Qualcomm AI stack components (QNN, QAIRT, SNPE).
- Experience with heterogeneous compute validation (DSP/GPU/CPU/NPU) and silicon bring-up.
- Experience operating and automating large device-farm infrastructures.
Education Requirements
One of the following degree-plus-experience combinations is listed as the minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 5+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years. Fields referenced: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical disciplines.
