Sr. Staff Engineer, System Level Test
Role Summary
Lead design and delivery of system-level test solutions for Snapdragon SoC products. Work on IC design review, hardware testing, software tools, and system engineering as part of a cross-functional global team to validate and improve product quality.
Responsible for project planning, tracking SLT deliverables, driving test-platform roadmaps, and presenting progress to management.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires extensive experience (generally 14+ years) in SoC/system test, hardware engineering, or related fields.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, technical leadership, and cross-functional execution of system-level test activities.
- Lead development of innovative system-level test solutions to validate and stress advanced-process SoC products.
- Plan and track projects: define tasks, timelines, resourcing, budgeting, and deliverables.
- Define test hardware requirements and interface with electronics test-board design and simulation teams.
- Drive production test platform roadmap and coordinate with vendors for platform development.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for team deliverables and quality.
- Collaborate with digital design, verification, software, hardware architecture, and product management teams.
- Present project status and metrics to management and stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Lead and coordinate engineering teams across geographic locations; act as individual contributor when needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.
- 14+ years of experience in SoC or electronics project management, system test, automation, or computer/hardware engineering.
- Proven track record leading development of test solutions and driving customer quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience defining test requirements and collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver test platforms.
- Background in semiconductor engineering, manufacturing processes, wireless standards, and design/test of wireless products.
- Ability to define KPIs and metrics for effective team delivery and to communicate results to stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication.
- Experience coordinating and driving teams across multiple geographic regions.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Familiarity with Qualcomm chipsets, ARM architecture, test sequencers, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Working knowledge of Android architecture, boot process, kernel, coreBSP and Android performance.
- Development experience in C#, Java, C++, Perl, or Python; familiarity with SCM tools such as Perforce or Git.
- Prior experience leading test engineering teams with project ownership.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with corresponding years of hardware engineering experience: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +5 years, or PhD +4 years.
