Sr. Staff Engineer, System Level Test
Role Summary
Lead design and delivery of system-level test solutions for Snapdragon SoCs, working across hardware, software, verification and product teams. Responsible for test strategy, platform development, project planning, and driving customer quality initiatives.
Work as a senior technical leader on a global, cross-functional team to define test requirements, develop test hardware/software, and deliver production-ready test platforms.
Experience Level
Senior - requires extensive experience in SoC/system test and engineering leadership; typically 14+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, project management, and delivery of system test capabilities.
- Define and drive system-level test strategy, hardware designs, and interfaces to test-board teams.
- Lead development of production test platform roadmap and coordinate with vendors for platform execution.
- Plan and track SLT project tasks, timelines, resourcing, and budgets; present status and metrics to management.
- Develop and validate IC hardware and system-level tests; work on IC design review, hardware testing, and software integration.
- Define KPIs and test metrics to measure team deliverables and product quality; drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and lead engineering teams across geographic regions and cross-functional organizations.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and drive customer quality-improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.
- Extensive experience (senior-level) in SoC, system test, automation, or electronics project management (14+ years preferred).
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams, own projects, and deliver test solutions at scale.
- Experience defining test hardware and interfacing with test-board design and simulation teams.
- Experience driving production test platform development and working with external vendors.
- Background in semiconductor engineering, manufacturing processes, wireless standards, and wireless product test.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-geography coordination skills.
- Ability to define and track KPIs and present technical updates to management.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Qualcomm chipsets, ARM architecture, Test Sequencers, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Knowledge of Android architecture, boot process, kernel, core BSP, and performance tuning.
- Software development experience in C#, Java, C++, Perl, or Python.
- Experience with SCM/tools such as Perforce or Git.
Education Requirements
Degree-based minimums stated by the employer: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years' hardware-engineering or related experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 5+ years' experience; OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years' experience.
