Job Title

Sr. Staff Engineer, SoC Design Verification

Role Summary

Lead end-to-end design verification (DV) for CPU and AI compute subsystems across blocks, chiplets, and multi-chip flows. The role drives verification strategy, ownership of test plans and regressions, and cross-functional debugging with design, silicon bring-up, and software teams.

Hybrid role based out of Boston, Toronto, Ottawa, or Santa Clara; responsible for mentoring engineering teams and improving DV efficiency through automation and AI-assisted tools.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff/Sr).

Responsibilities

Lead verification strategy and execution; ensure coverage and sign-off for CPU and accelerator blocks.

  • Define and own end-to-end DV plans for processor cores, caches, interconnects, interrupts, MMU/IOMMU, and coherency protocols.
  • Build and maintain simulation and verification environments using SV-UVM, C/DPI, Cocotb, and related methodologies.
  • Manage large-scale regressions, coverage analysis, failure triage, and drive issues to closure.
  • Coordinate verification across design, architecture, post-silicon, firmware, and software teams for debugging and sign-off.
  • Support emulation and multi-chip verification flows; optimize DV flows for scalability and performance.
  • Mentor and train junior DV engineers; promote verification best practices and tooling adoption.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate verification workflows and productivity.

Requirements

Required technical skills and proven experiences for immediate contribution.

Must-have:

  • Proven track record leading CPU verification across cores, caches, interconnects, interrupts, MMU/IOMMU, and cache coherency.
  • Hands-on experience developing testbenches and environments with SystemVerilog UVM, C/DPI, and Cocotb.
  • Experience managing high-volume regressions, coverage-driven verification, complex failure triage, and driving closure.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and establish verification practices across teams.
  • Experience collaborating with design, architecture, post-silicon validation, and software teams for debugging and sign-off.
  • Comfortable using modern AI-assisted tools to improve verification productivity.

Nice-to-have:

  • Emulation and multi-chip verification experience at scale.
  • Experience with AI accelerator verification, multi-chip integration, or post-silicon bring-up.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
