Job Title

Sr. Staff Engineer, Product Engineering

Role Summary

Senior product engineer on the Product Engineering team supporting NPI and manufacturing readiness for high-speed datacenter Processor & ASIC products. The role works across Test, Hardware, Design, Firmware, Foundry, and Reliability teams to transition products from development into volume manufacturing.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on new product introduction (NPI), yield and test analysis, test development/debug, and production ramp support.

  • Drive NPI development with PE, Test, Foundry, Reliability and cross-functional teams for high-speed datacenter products and variants.
  • Analyze engineering-sample yields; characterize product performance and manufacturing yield windows to meet cost targets.
  • Perform data mining and statistical analysis on wafer-sort and final-test parametrics to support initial product assessment.
  • Generate product assessment and customer return verification reports; implement containment and preventive actions.
  • Execute functional testing, debug test/program issues, and resolve test engineering problems.
  • Support volume engineering sample supply for early customer engagement.
  • Plan and coordinate yield and test-time improvement activities (data analysis, root-cause, corrective actions).
  • Implement test productivity improvements: test-time reduction, retest reduction, increased parallelism, and test insertion removal.
  • Transfer product knowledge to sustaining HVM engineers and engage/manage test subcontractors during early production.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of semiconductor industry experience with semiconductor test and manufacturing (Digital ASIC/ASSP).
  • Proven hands-on test development and debug proficiency; familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
  • Familiarity with ATE specification, configuration, and programming on Advantest SmartScale and PinScale 93K platforms.
  • Good understanding of product test methodology, DFT, and high-performance digital SERDES/DDR test methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills; experience with yield analysis and quality tools (GR&R, Cp, Cpk).
  • Competency in scripting (Perl/Python) and high-level languages (C/C++ or Visual Basic).
  • Ability to manage complex projects, work independently, and communicate effectively in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Teradyne UltraFlex, j750, iFlex platforms.
  • Experience with direct dock WS testing, 2.5D testing, and multiport test solutions.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro for ATE PCB design and RF testing experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of JMP statistical analysis tool.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
