Sr Staff Applications Engineer - ICV Runset Development

Role Summary

Develop and validate DRC, LVS and fill runsets (rule decks) for Synopsys IC Validator targeting advanced semiconductor process nodes. Work with foundry partners, field application engineers, and customers to deliver robust physical verification (PV) solutions and automate qualification workflows.

Experience Level

Senior - 5–10 years of industry experience in Physical Verification (PV) and related EDA tool usage.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on runset development, automation, troubleshooting, and customer support.

  • Develop and validate DRC, LVS, and fill runsets for IC Validator targeting advanced process technologies.
  • Collaborate with foundries to interpret process requirements and translate them into PV rule decks.
  • Automate qualification and validation processes for runsets using scripting (Perl, Tcl, Python).
  • Troubleshoot LVS discrepancies, DRC violations, ERC and DFM issues; debug complex layout verification problems.
  • Interface with customers and FAEs to gather requirements, provide technical support, and ensure successful deployment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.
  • Monitor EDA tool and foundry process developments to maintain high-quality PV solutions.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency with EDA tools such as Synopsys IC Validator, Calibre, Pegasus, and PVS.
  • Strong scripting skills in Perl, Tcl, and Python for automation and rule-deck development.
  • Deep knowledge of CMOS layout, ASIC design flows, and foundry process requirements.
  • Experience writing and debugging DRC, LVS, ERC and DFM rule decks.
  • Customer-facing experience and ability to collaborate with FAEs and foundry partners.
  • Nice-to-have: exposure to competitive EDA tools and prior mentoring or field-support roles.

Education Requirements

B.Tech, M.Tech, or MS in Electronics, VLSI, or a related field.
