Sr RDA Equipment Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior RDA (real-time defect analysis) Equipment Applications Engineer owns and optimizes defect-analysis toolsets and recipes for Fab 6. The role focuses on recipe development, stability monitoring, tool performance improvement, and advanced application support to enable robust defect monitoring across the fab.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting requires a minimum of 2 years' semiconductor defect-analysis experience with a preference for candidates with 5+ years in process development or inspection applications.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day ownership of assigned RDA toolsets, combining hands-on recipe work with data-driven tool improvement.
- Develop, validate, and maintain POR and engineering recipes for RDA equipment.
- Maintain application ownership: understand tool theory, perform advanced recipe setup, and support secondary tool coverage.
- Monitor and document recipe requests, changes, and communications.
- Perform tool recoveries, lead software upgrades, and implement improvements with internal teams and vendors.
- Establish and track SPC charts, analyze tool data, and drive corrective actions for performance improvements.
- Create and update procedures; train engineers and technicians on operation and recipe protocols.
- Participate in global tool-sharing forums, follow up on cross-site actions, and support vendor audits and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain vendor communication and track long-term solutions and tool readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.
- Minimum 2 years of semiconductor industry experience in a defect analysis or inspection applications role.
- Practical experience with recipe development, tool application support, and troubleshooting of inspection/defect-analysis equipment.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor fabrication process flows and demonstrated ability to drive issues to root cause using data analysis and engineering troubleshooting.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC), process capability, and data analysis methodologies.
- Experience working with vendors and cross-functional teams to resolve tool/application issues.
- Interest or experience in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to lead multiple tool responsibilities and present technical findings.
- Nice-to-have: experience with KLA or AMAT advanced toolsets and experience driving cross-site alignment or global BKM sharing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related technical field (as listed in the posting).
