Sr. Principal Technical Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Technical Quality Engineer on the Silicon Solutions Group (SSG) global quality team. Partner with IP design, methodology, CAD, and engineering management to define and maintain quality processes for semiconductor IP delivered to customers and foundries.
Primary mission: analyze design defects, define QA/QC and release processes, improve process efficiency (including via agentic AI), and report quality metrics to senior management.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
You will act as the quality champion for one or more design organizations and drive continuous improvement across global teams.
- Participate on the global SSG Quality Team and represent quality to customers and partners.
- Define, document, and maintain QA/QC procedures across multiple design teams.
- Analyze design defects, perform root-cause analysis (RCA), and define corrective actions.
- Run post-mortems and summarize outcomes for engineering management.
- Generate, interpret, and communicate quality metrics and trends.
- Improve quality procedure effectiveness and efficiency, including implementation of agentic AI systems.
- Support failure analysis reporting and assist design teams with FA reports.
- Maintain and support quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 26262) and foundry IP quality programs.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 7+ years experience in IC design, verification, or silicon fabrication quality assurance/control.
- Hands-on experience in analog or digital IC design or verification, or in fabrication QA processes.
- Proven ability to perform defect analysis and RCA; define and implement corrective actions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proactive and responsible work approach.
- Strong problem-analysis and teamwork skills; ability to summarize technical results for senior management.
- Familiarity with quality metrics and maintaining quality certifications.
- Nice-to-have: experience in analog IC design.
- Nice-to-have: experience with defect-management processes such as 5-Why, 8D.
Education Requirements
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is specified.
