Sr Principal RF Systems Architect

Role Summary

Technical leader and subject-matter expert in RF systems for defense, aerospace and SATCOM. Support product strategy, system architecture, product roadmaps, and customer engagements across internal programs and external proposals.

Experience Level

Senior — typical guidance: 7+ years relevant experience for MSEE/PhD holders or 15+ years relevant experience for BSEE holders.

Responsibilities

Lead systems-level architecture and customer-facing technical strategy for RF systems and subsystems.

• Serve as SME in RF architecture for radar, communications and SATCOM during internal reviews and customer engagements.
• Drive architectural trade studies across performance, SWaP, scalability and mission constraints.
• Influence system architecture, performance trades and technical baselines across multiple programs.
• Analyze and document component and subsystem specifications for internal and customer projects.
• Support development of prototypes, development kits and reference designs.
• Define technical requirements for new components and antenna system developments.
• Contribute to product line roadmaps and define differentiated product concepts.
• Build and maintain customer relationships; present technical proposals and roadmaps.
• Lead cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, test, product engineering and program management.
• Participate in or lead complex proposals and shape technical strategy to win programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, customer-facing experience, and leadership abilities.

• Extensive systems engineering leadership experience: requirements, architecture, integration & test, verification and risk management.
• Proven experience collaborating directly with RF customers and interpreting customer specifications for proposals.
• Direct experience with RF products and working with Defense & Aerospace customers.
• Ability to complete technical projects independently and to mentor and coach engineers.
• Experience with phased array antenna systems, beamforming, RF cascade analysis and calibration.
• Analytical and business skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Proven ability to influence and drive cross-functional teams; excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

• System-level understanding of RF, silicon IC and control subsystems.

Education Requirements

BSEE in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 15+ years relevant experience, or MSEE/PhD with 7+ years relevant experience (as stated in the posting).
