Sr Principal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead RFIC design and product development for RF switches and/or LNAs targeting mobile handsets. Work with cross-functional teams including program management, layout, characterization, reliability, quality, and logistics to take products from concept through production.

Provide technical leadership on design trade-offs, measurement, verification, and schedule execution to deliver production-grade RF components.

Experience Level

Senior / Professional — 10+ years of RFIC, switch, or LNA design experience.

Responsibilities

The role includes technical design, verification, measurement, and project execution:

• Perform transistor-level RFIC design of switches and/or LNAs (SOI, GaAs, or similar).
• Design supporting analog blocks as needed (charge pumps, LDOs, level shifters, bandgaps).
• Use simulation and layout tools (Cadence) for design and verification.
• Mitigate parasitics using EM simulation tools (HFSS, ADS FEM, or similar).
• Execute RF measurements and characterization (S-parameters, noise figure, harmonics, intermodulation).
• Present designs in peer reviews and provide regular progress updates to the development team.
• Develop and execute project schedules to meet time-to-market targets.
• Contribute to cross-functional continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 10+ years experience in switch, LNA and/or RFIC design.
• Proven experience with Cadence tools and layout; strong linear and nonlinear simulation skills.
• Extensive EM simulation experience to address package/PCB parasitics (HFSS, ADS FEM, or similar).
• Strong RF measurement and characterization skills (S-parameters, noise figure, harmonics, intermodulation).
• Experience debugging analog/RF/mixed-signal noise and coupling issues.
• Working knowledge of device physics relevant to switch and LNA designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently or in teams.
• Knowledge of RF PA and large-signal design is a plus.
• Track record releasing production RF switches or LNAs for mobile applications is highly considered.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
