Sr Principal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior technical lead responsible for architecture and delivery of high-speed SerDes and memory-interface analog/I/O IP. Works with cross-functional teams in Bangalore to design, validate and release complex mixed-signal IP for advanced process nodes.

Experience Level

Senior — approximately 12–17 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include leading IP design efforts, coordinating across teams, and mentoring engineers.

• Lead architecture, design, implementation and delivery of high-speed SerDes, PLLs, clocking and memory-interface datapaths.
• Coordinate cross-functional workstreams with digital, verification, layout, CAD and system teams to meet schedule and quality targets.
• Drive requirements for I/O, ESD, reliability, signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) and ensure designs meet them.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers; perform design reviews and provide technical direction.
• Prepare technical documentation, debug complex issues, and support silicon bring-up and validation.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and a few preferred items.

• Must-have: In-depth experience with high-speed SerDes and memory-interface circuits (I/Os, PLLs, clocking, datapaths).
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with PCIe Gen3/4/5/6 and/or DDRx/GDDR/LPDDR memory interfaces.
• Must-have: Strong analog and I/O design fundamentals; working knowledge of ESD, reliability, SI and PI.
• Must-have: Experience leading complex IP development and managing cross-functional dependencies.
• Must-have: Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience on advanced process nodes (16nm/12nm/10nm/7nm).
