Sr Principal C++ Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Palladium Software Development team to design and implement the software and operating environment for Cadence's next-generation Palladium emulation platform. Work closely with a small team of senior engineers to define features, interfaces, and deliver production-quality software for large-scale hardware emulation systems.

This role focuses on high-performance C/C++ development, system integration, and verification of emulation platform features.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Candidate should meet the stated degree/experience thresholds (see Education Requirements) and have substantial, production C++ experience building complex systems.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include designing, implementing, and validating software components for the emulation platform:

• Develop C/C++ code for the emulation platform and its operating environment.
• Design features, flows, and interfaces in collaboration with hardware and software engineers.
• Write functional, implementation, and test specifications for assigned features.
• Implement unit, integration, and system tests; own quality and performance tradeoffs.
• Work cross-functionally across Palladium teams to integrate and ship features.

Requirements

Must-have skills followed by desirable/optional qualifications.

• Must-have: Strong C++ software development experience and solid knowledge of STL.
• Must-have: Proficiency in data structures, algorithm design, and complexity/performance tradeoffs.
• Must-have: Experience writing and running unit, integration, and system tests.
• Must-have: Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Linux kernel and device drivers.
• Nice-to-have: Multi-threaded programming and TCP/IP experience.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with industry simulation or emulation products and recent C++ (C++23) features.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience thresholds stated in the posting: BS with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, OR MS with a minimum of 7 years, OR PhD with a minimum of 5 years. No specific fields of study or certifications were specified.
