Sr. Multimedia SOC System Architect
Role Summary
Drive architectural definition and delivery of Ambiq's low-power SoCs with a focus on multimedia technologies: graphics, display, video, imaging, and AI. This is a cross-functional individual-contributor role working with hardware, software, FPGA, physical design, applications, and field teams to meet power, performance, and product requirements.
Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial prior architecture and design experience (see Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define high-level architecture and detailed microarchitecture for multimedia subsystems.
- Create architecture specifications, flow diagrams, sequences, pseudocode, and power/performance models.
- Collaborate with software architecture to define multimedia flows, APIs, and hardware abstraction layers.
- Specify integration points for system interfaces and external power management.
- Work with FPGA team on bring-up of multimedia features and with physical design to ensure robust implementation.
- Support use-case and test-case development, RTL and gate-level simulation, and post-silicon analysis.
- Engage with customers to align multimedia features and competitive positioning.
Requirements
Must-have skills and constraints:
- At least 8 years of architecture and design experience in graphics, display, video, imaging, neural networks, or similar domains targeting wearable, IoT, or mobile products.
- Proven record delivering multimedia architectures from concept through specification, design, and post-silicon validation.
- Deep knowledge of graphics accelerators, display controllers and panels, image signal processors, video codecs, image sensors, or NN accelerators for low-power systems.
- Working knowledge of SoC architecture, interconnect/fabric, power management, and advanced process nodes; power/performance modeling experience.
- Experience creating architectural specifications for complex SoC hardware and communicating effectively in verbal and written form.
- Individual contributor role; some team lead or management experience is a plus.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer; Ambiq does not sponsor visas for this role.
- Role is onsite five days per week in NW Austin, TX.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. MS or PhD in a related field is preferred.
