Job Title
Sr MMIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior individual contributor responsible for design and development of GaN and GaAs MMIC-based RF/microwave products. Work as part of an integrated product development team across engineering, product, test, manufacturing, and program management.
Primary mission: deliver high-performance MMIC and multichip module solutions through concept, development, qualification, and production stages.
Experience Level
Senior / Professional. The role expects multiple years of relevant RF/MMIC design experience; see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include design, verification, and product support for MMIC and module solutions:
- Perform MMIC design using linear/nonlinear models and 2.5D/3D EM simulation tools.
- Integrate MMICs into single- and multi-chip modules and hybrid assemblies.
- Manage product checkout, optimization, and design verification testing (DVT) in the Microwave Lab.
- Execute DVT analysis and present technical results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support products through feasibility, development, qualification, and production phases.
- Document and publish technical results internally or externally; submit invention disclosures when applicable.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints:
- Recent experience designing RFIC/MMIC amplifiers, switches, phase shifters, attenuators, TDUs, hybrid modules, or FEMs.
- Experience with advanced III-V technologies (GaN and GaAs).
- Proficiency with nonlinear circuit simulators such as ADS or Microwave Office and one or more EM tools (SONNET, Axiem, Momentum, HFSS).
- Knowledge of microwave measurements and calibration: S-parameters, power, efficiency, source/load-pull, noise figure, linearity, and IMD.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to summarize technical concepts concisely.
- Must be a US Person (US citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee); the position is not eligible for company visa sponsorship and supports US Government contracts.
Nice-to-have:
- Design experience for millimeter-wave GaAs or GaN MMIC power amplifiers targeting simultaneous power, bandwidth, efficiency, and linearity.
- SiGe and/or CMOS RFIC/MMIC, analog, or mixed-signal design experience.
- Track record of published technical work and meeting customer technical schedules.
Education Requirements
Required degree and experience combinations specified by the employer: BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years relevant experience; MS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years relevant experience; or PhD in Electrical Engineering with an RF/Microwave focus.
