Sr. Memory Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior layout engineer responsible for memory physical design, verification, and integration for advanced process nodes. Work with SoC and library teams to deliver high-quality memory layouts on schedule.

Experience Level

Senior — requires significant hands-on experience; posting specifies a minimum of 8 years of relevant layout experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include end-to-end memory layout delivery, planning, and team coordination.

• Apply layout guidelines, process rules, and technical requirements for manufacturable designs.
• Perform floor-planning, hierarchy layout, and chip integration for memory blocks.
• Manage schedules, timelines, and deliverables to meet project milestones.
• Execute physical verification and fix DRC/LVS/ERC/Antenna/ElectroMigration issues.
• Develop and maintain layout scripting and automation to improve productivity.
• Lead technology reviews and document layout methodologies, flows, and guidelines.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and coordinate with SOC/library teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Minimum 8 years of layout experience with strong hands-on memory layout skills.
• Proficiency with Cadence layout tools (Virtuoso XL / VXL / EXL) and Cadence schematic capture.
• Experience with Calibre verification tools and related signoff flows.
• Strong knowledge of physical verification (LVS, DRC, ERC, Antenna, ElectroMigration).
• Experience in submicron/advanced process nodes (examples: 7nm, 5nm, 3nm, 2nm).
• Understanding of memory architecture, RC requirements, signal and power planning.
• Skill in floor-planning, hierarchy layout, and chip integration for memory blocks.
• Script programming experience, including SKILL; ability to create layout automation.
• Proven ability to lead projects, document flows, and deliver high-quality layouts on schedule.
• Nice-to-have: analog layout experience, familiarity with memory compilers, and experience applying AI/automation tools to layout.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
