Role Summary

Lead the Applications Development Engineering team within the Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) division of KLA's Global Products Group. The role focuses on ensuring customer performance entitlement for optical metrology products from R&D through high-volume manufacturing and on supporting product deployment, troubleshooting, and customer technical engagement.

Base pay range for the primary location: $179,600–$314,300 annually.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in semiconductor metrology or related roles and demonstrated leadership managing technical engineering or applications teams.

Responsibilities

The role combines technical leadership, customer engagement, and program management for metrology product deployments.

  • Manage and grow a global applications/development engineering team supporting optical metrology products.
  • Lead technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and performance troubleshooting for customer fabs.
  • Drive cross-functional projects across product development, engineering, service, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Engage directly with customers to ensure performance entitlement from early R&D through volume manufacturing.
  • Provide technical direction and input to product requirements and feature prioritization based on customer needs.
  • Mentor engineers, set team priorities, and manage competing technical and programmatic demands.
  • Represent the division in customer presentations and technical reviews.

Requirements

Key technical and leadership requirements.

  • Strong technical background in semiconductor process technology, metrology, or optics.
  • Experience with semiconductor process control, optical metrology, thin-film measurements, scatterometry, or critical-dimension metrology.
  • Proven leadership managing technical engineering or applications teams and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to lead complex technical investigations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for interacting with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to drive projects across multiple organizations and manage competing priorities.
  • Computational modeling knowledge and understanding of IC processing or semiconductor equipment are desirable.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field (as specified in the posting).
