Sr. Manager, IP Verification

Role Summary

Lead a verification engineering team within the DesignWare IP Verification R&D organization in Bengaluru to plan, execute, and deliver verification for synthesizable IP cores. The role balances technical leadership, people management, and delivery coordination across multiple protocol domains.

Drive verification methodology, environment development, regression standards, and mentoring to ensure timely, high-quality IP verification results.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience: BS/BE + ~15+ years relevant experience or MS + ~12+ years (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on technical leadership, team management, and delivery ownership for IP verification projects.

• Manage and mentor a team of verification engineers; set goals and track performance.
• Plan and execute verification projects for synthesizable IP cores, ensuring schedules and quality targets are met.
• Lead development and maintenance of verification environments, testbenches, and regression frameworks.
• Oversee test planning, test case creation, coverage-driven verification, and debugging activities.
• Coordinate verification efforts across domains and stakeholders to resolve blockers and integrate results.
• Establish and enforce quality metrics, regression standards, and verification best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement of verification methodologies and tools.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; protocol familiarity and other domain experience are beneficial.

• Must-have: Proven experience managing and leading verification engineering teams and delivering complex verification projects.
• Must-have: Deep expertise in verification methodologies (UVM/VMM/OVM) and HVL coding for verification.
• Must-have: Strong hands-on skills in test planning, environment development (unit/system), debugging, and regression management.
• Must-have: Experience with industry-standard simulators and debugging tools (example: VCS).
• Must-have: Strong functional coverage coding, test-case design, coverage analysis, and regression oversight.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with industry buses and protocols such as USB, PCI Express, Ethernet, AMBA, DDR.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience on synthesisable IP cores and SoC verification.

Education Requirements

BS/BE in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 12+ years in IP core/SoC verification. No other degrees, certifications, or equivalent-experience language specified.
