Sr Manager - IoT Segment Leader, Edge and AI Compute

Role Summary

Lead GlobalFoundries' end-market strategy and customer engagement for Edge and AI compute applications (MCU, MPU/NPU, FPGA, AI co-processors, embedded vision and related systems). Drive market prioritization, translate customer requirements into technology needs, and support design-win activity across sales, product, and technology teams.

Experience Level

Senior level. The role requires approximately 8+ years of relevant semiconductor product management, technical marketing, business development, systems engineering, or customer-facing technical experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for defining strategy, building market insight, and enabling customer engagements to win design activity and revenue in Edge and AI compute segments.

  • Own End Market strategy for Edge & AI Compute and define priority applications, customers, and growth opportunities.
  • Build market views, SAM analyses, competitive positioning, and customer opportunity maps.
  • Translate application and customer needs into technology requirements (power, memory, connectivity, security, integration, cost targets).
  • Support Sales and Product Lines in design-win pursuits by providing positioning, collateral, and customer-facing materials.
  • Create and maintain Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and executive-ready recommendations.
  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, Technology Development, Design Enablement, and Business Intelligence to convert insight into funnel growth and tape-out revenue.
  • Develop strategic customer relationships across technical, business, and procurement stakeholders to influence roadmaps and technology selections.
  • Monitor competitive and ecosystem trends (Edge AI, vision, embedded memory, connectivity, security) and translate them into product/roadmap actions.
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical and professional qualifications for successful performance in this role.

  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor product management, technical marketing, business development, strategy, systems engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
  • Strong domain knowledge of MCU, MPU/NPU, FPGA, edge AI, or embedded compute markets, including customers, applications, and competitors.
  • Ability to map application requirements to process/platform choices (power, performance, memory, RF/connectivity, security, integration, cost).
  • Experience building market models, customer opportunity maps, competitive assessments, and business cases for executive audiences.
  • Proven customer-facing communication skills with ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working across global Sales, Product Lines, Technology Development, Design Enablement, and Business Intelligence teams.
  • U.S.-based position; ability to travel for customer and internal engagements as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in embedded AI, TinyML, machine vision, robotics, industrial automation, smart home, wearables, AI PC, or physical AI systems.
  • Knowledge of foundry platforms or technologies such as FD-SOI, 22FDX, 28nm-class platforms, embedded MRAM/RRAM/eFlash, low-power SRAM, or AI-optimized libraries.
  • Existing relationships with MCU/MPU suppliers, fabless companies, OEMs, IP vendors, or ecosystem partners in edge AI and embedded compute markets.
  • Experience creating MRDs, customer roadmaps, competitive benchmarks, and executive market briefings.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is required. A Master’s degree in a technical field or an MBA is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
