Senior Layout Engineer, DRAM Engineering Group (DEG)

Role Summary

Join Micron's DRAM Engineering Group to develop block- and IP-level physical layouts for advanced DRAM products. The role focuses on producing high-quality layouts, verifying physical correctness, and coordinating with global teams to deliver on schedule.

This position involves leading sub-block layout tasks, mentoring junior designers, and working across engineering sites to support product success.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, verifying, and delivering block-level layouts and supporting team and project execution.

  • Design and develop IP/block-level layouts for DRAM chips.
  • Perform layout verification tasks (LVS, DRC, EM) and quality checks; produce documentation.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of block layouts meeting quality standards.
  • Guide and review work of team members on sub-block layouts.
  • Contribute to project planning and execution to meet milestones.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering teams across the US, India, Japan, and other global sites.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Hands-on experience performing physical layout with Cadence Virtuoso or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with DRC, LVS, physical verification, and reliability checks.
  • Strong understanding of circuit design principles and area-optimized high-performance layout techniques.
  • Experience in critical analog layout of blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs/DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
  • Solid knowledge of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop, and handling parasitic effects.
  • Preferred: experience with DRAM or memory circuits, large-scale hierarchical designs, parasitic extraction flows, post-layout optimization, and partial custom layout.
  • Preferred: strong communication skills for global collaboration.
