Job Title
Sr. FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior FPGA Engineer designs, implements, and validates FPGA-based digital logic for Indra's navigation, surveillance, and radio products. The role covers VHDL development across the full FPGA lifecycle and integration with hardware and software teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain FPGA architectures and digital logic for ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDS), surveillance radios (ADS-B/WAM), software-defined radios (SDR), and related systems.
- Develop and update VHDL code; perform simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
- Support the full FPGA development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, coding, hardware/firmware integration, verification, validation, and maintenance of new and legacy designs.
- Implement digital signal processing algorithms and SDR architectures on FPGA platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate FPGA designs into system-level architectures.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize FPGA designs in simulation and on-target hardware using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal quality standards.
Requirements
Must-have skills and technologies:
- Proficiency in VHDL for FPGA design.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado or equivalent for synthesis and implementation.
- Experience with simulation and verification tools such as ModelSim or equivalent.
- Proven experience with synthesis/place-and-route and timing-closure workflows.
- Experience implementing DSP algorithms and SDR architectures on FPGA platforms.
- Hands-on experience with hardware integration and lab debug tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and produce technical documentation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher required. Field of study not specified.
